I love Cardiff. I live, work, and play in Cardiff-by-the-Sea.
I raised my kids, now 26 and 30 years old, in Carmel Valley. Every spring break, I would reserve a campsite at San Elijo campground (here in Cardiff). We were able to get away, but not too far away. Tent camping, cooking by the campfire, VGs Donuts, spending days at the beach, it was a place where friends could join and visit. As my kids got older, the boogie boards were replaced by surfboards, and I reserved a separate campsite for my kiddos and their friends. One year, I asked my son if he wanted to go to Europe instead of our spring break camp vacation. He said, no way! These camping adventures are some of our favorite family vacation memories. Once I became an empty-nester, my Cardiff campsite became a Cardiff home. Now, I vacation every day in the community that I know and love.
For many years, I would run along the coast and get the vibe of all the different beach communities. I think of Cardiff as an eclectic beach community. Cardiff houses surfer dudes, artists, young professionals to multi-millionaires. Everybody seems to happily get along. If you want to meet your neighbors, just go for a walk. My husband and I joke that it seems like there is at least one dog to every household. So, of course, we had to have a dog. Most walkers have not one dog but multiple dogs with them. We have many wonderful walking options. You can walk through the village with local shops and restaurants, beach, lagoon trail, Cardiff Rail Trail, Rossini Trail, Composer District, Walking District, etc.
I am passionate about supporting the community that I know and love. One way is my involvement with Cardiff 101 so I have a pulse on our community and can assist with local events and needs. I love Cardiff. I grew up as a competitive swimmer, and I am still swimming. The ocean nurtures my soul and the Cardiff community is where I belong.
